Choi Doo-ho enters the UFC Hall of Fame…”Return to version 2.0″
“Korean Super Boy” Choi Doo-ho (31, Team Mad) became the first Korean to enter the UFC Hall of Fame.
At the 2022 UFC Hall of Fame inductance ceremony held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the 1st (Korea Standard Time), he became the winner of the “Fightwing” category with Cup Swanson.
The UFC Hall of Fame is divided into four categories. △Contributors wing for business contributors △ Pioneers wing for fighters who debuted and made achievements before November 2000 △ Modern wing for fighters who debuted and made achievements after November 2000.
△Fight Wing is an award given to winners and losers who collaborated on a great match that will remain in UFC history.
Forest Griffin and Stephen Bonner’s TUF Season 1 final, Matt Hughes and Frank Treg’s second leg, Mark Coleman and Pete Williams’ heavyweights, Mauricio Shogun and Dan Henderson’s first leg, Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida’s lightweight, and John Jones and Alexander Gustafson’s first leg were ‘fight wing’.
Choi Doo-ho and Swanson’s featherweight match is the seventh win of the “Fight Wing.” In the match between the two at UFC 206 in December 2016, Swanson won the 15th-minute Nanta match.
Choi Doo-ho, who is focusing on rehabilitating his shoulder injury, expressed his acceptance speech through a video message.
“It’s such an honor and I feel so good. If the previous version was version 1.0, please look forward to version 2.0. We’ll have a better and more fun game in the second half,” he said.
Choi Doo-ho is being treated for a shoulder injury ahead of his participation last summer. I recently resumed training. He is aiming for a return match in October.
There were no winners of this year’s ‘Country Wings’ and ‘Pioneers Wings’. Instead, two fighters received a “Modern Wing.” Former lightweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov were honored.
Cormier has been active as a UFC commentator since his retirement. On the 3rd, he will also sit in the broadcasting seat with John Anick and Joe Logan at UFC 276.
Khabib has been trying to train his juniors after retiring with 29 wins and no losses in 29 games. In “Igls MMA,” which is nicknamed after him, he teaches Dagestan strongmen such as Islam Makachev and Umar Nurmagomedov. He is also the representative of the mixed martial arts competition “Eagle FC.”
