Krafton, Last Year’s Operating Profit of KRW 751.6 Billion…Improve profitability with cost efficiency
Krafton improved profitability last year by operating stably last year despite internal and external unfavorable factors.
Krafton announced on the 7th that its annual sales and operating profit in 2022 were tentatively tallied at 1.854 trillion won and 751.6 billion won, respectively, based on the K-IFRS consolidation.
Sales decreased by 1.7% compared to 2021, but operating profit increased by 15.5%. The average market estimate (consensus) was 1.8411 trillion won in sales and 715 billion won in operating profit. Krafton reported earnings that exceeded the consensus in both sales and operating profit. Net profit during the same period was 500.2 billion won, down 3.8% from the previous year.
Krafton said in a regulatory filing that “operating profit improved due to stable business operations and cost efficiency.”
In the fourth quarter of last year, it recorded sales of 473.8 billion won and operating profit of 126.2 billion won. Sales and operating profit increased 6.8% and 178.8%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, sales rose 9.22%, but operating profit fell 44.3%. Net loss for the current term recorded 165.4 billion won, turning into a deficit compared to the same period last year and the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, Krafton has frozen the salary of its chief starting next month. The working system, which allowed telecommuting twice a week at the discretion of the head of the organization, was also changed to once a week. This year, Krafton is striving to change its constitution by increasing opportunities for investment and publishing of shares of external developers, focusing on its own development and independent studio development titles.
On the 19th of last month, CEO Kim Chang-han shared with members the direction of Krafton this year on the in-house communication program “KRAFTON LIVE TALK (hereinafter referred to as KLT).”
At the time, CEO Kim Chang-han said, “The ultimate vision of Krafton is to secure and expand the strong intellectual property (IP) of ‘game’,” adding, “This year is the time to condense the company’s capabilities.”
