Russia cuts gas supply to Italy by 15% per day
Russia has notified Italy of cuts in natural gas supplies following Germany.
Russia’s state-run gas company Gazprom has announced that it will cut gas supplies by 15 percent from the previous day, local time in Enier, Italy’s largest energy company.
There was no explanation for the reason for the reduction.
An Eni official acknowledged the reduction in Gazprom’s gas supply and said he was keeping a close eye on the situation.
In order to continue importing gas from Russia, Eni has been actively responding to Russian authorities’ demands by opening a roubles account at a local bank last month.
As of last year, Italy covered more than 40 percent of its annual gas imports from Russia.
