Tottenham FA Cup quarter-final green light, clash with lower team
Tottenham Hotspur, which advanced to the round of 16 of the 2022-23 English Football Association (FA) Cup due to Son Heung-min’s multi-goal, is also expected to be easy to advance to the quarterfinals. They clash with the lower league team.
According to the FA Cup round of 16 announced by the FA on the 29th by lottery, Tottenham will face the winner of a rematch between Lexum, a National League (fifth) team, and Sheffield United, a league championship (second) team, for advancing to the quarterfinals.
The game will be played at the opponent’s stadium, but considering that all of them are lower-level teams than Tottenham, chances are high that they will advance to the quarterfinals if they do not let their guard down. Lexum and Sheffield United will play again on the 8th of next month, drawing 3-3 in the showdown on the 30th. If Lexum breaks Sheffield United, it will be the lowest league team among the teams that have reached the round of 16 in the FA Cup.
Manchester City, which beat Arsenal and reached the round of 16, will also meet a somewhat easy opponent. Manchester City meet Bristol City in the league championship.
Brighton and Hove Albion, who beat defending champion Liverpool, as well as Southampton and Leicester City, will also meet lower league teams.
Southampton clash with Luton Town in the League Championship and Grimsby Town in the League Two (part 4) while Leicester also compete with the winners of the League Championship Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City in the quarterfinals. Brighton also play Stoke City in the league championship in the round of 16.
However, Manchester United will play West Ham United, the same English Premier League team. Leeds United will play the round of 16 against winners of EPL team Fulham and league championship team Sunderland.
