Yokichi extends Denver’s five-year, $264 million contract

Shames Charania, a reporter specializing in the “The Athletic” NBA, said on the 1st that Yokichi agreed to a five-year,
$264 million supermax contract with his team Denver Nuggets.
The contract will be recorded as the highest-paid contract in NBA history.
The 2027-28 season, the last season of the contract, is a player option and has an annual salary of $60 million.
Yokichi, who has four All-Star and two MVP careers, is one of the league’s best centers.
He scored 19.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.7 block shots in 527 NBA games.
Last season, he was selected as the MVP with an average of 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 74 games.
MVP for the second consecutive year following last season.
He is the 15th player to win the MVP award more than twice in the NBA and the second player to win
